TUESDAY’S ASPIE UPDATE….

Ok so like every Tuesday Jacob had counseling today… Pretty much standard meeting. She just wanted to find out how he was doing on the behavior chart we have worked on for a few week. He did AWESOME last week and showed us that when he puts his mind to it he really can behave like a little gentleman versus the wild indian we see much of the time! I love Jacob so very much and honestly wouldn’t cure him of the Aspergers if given the chance. Over the past 5 years we have known he was an ASPIE we have grown to love his quirkiness, as long as no one is getting hurt! I’ll list the behaviors below that he is working on. He gets a nickel for each one he gets a smiley face for on Sunday and his counselor lets him play Angry Birds on her phone if he gets a certain amount of points during the week. This past week he received 47/50 points! the 3 points he missed were for sneaking and playing video games while grounded!

Current Behaviors being monitored:

  1. limiting media possible 7 point
  2. hitting, kicking, pushing, possible 7 points
  3. getting to school without issue possible 5 points
  4. staying at school all day possible 5 points
  5. doing homework without issue possible 5 points
  6. back-talking possible 7 points
  7. self-control possible 7 points
  8. threatening possible 7 points

total possible points 50

If he gets all 50 points we will reward him with an extra 50 cents for a possible weekly allowance of $3.00!

Once he has met the terms of his contract (I’ll post more on that another day!)  a new one will be written out and a new behavior list made up, but for now we are very pleased with the progress of our Tuesday’s ASPIE!

JUST ANOTHER MANIC MONDAY!

Ok I am going to start something new. I have set up a weekly layout for my blogs… They will be as follows

Manic Monday overview of my upcoming manic week

Tuesday’s Aspie... something Asperger’s related

Word up Wednesday....describe week in a single word

Silent Thursday…. Something related to selective mutism

Finally Friday… review of my week

Six word Saturday… describe my life or whatever in six words

Sun‘s up Sunday... picture memories

So whatcha think? Are you excited? I am! why not follow me or subscribe or something to show some love!

Today I was inspired by a FACEBOOK friend to start de-cluttering each room in my home. I chose to use the Peter Walsh method of de-cluttering.

This was Jacob’s reaction when I informed him that his room would be the first to get de-cluttered and that he had to help!

Midway I stopped to take a few more pics and it wasn’t looking good. Why is it that things look worse before they look better.

Not the best picture , but here is all the trash we pulled out of his room. A 39 gallon trash bag and a large gift bag full!

On top of all the trash we also filled my trunk with donations for the Goodwill!

TaDa! I think it looks fantastic!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABIGAEL…MOMMY LOVES YOU!

Supermom’s Unite!

First off I would like to say that I have the utmost respect for all Moms. Whether you are a stay at home mom, single mom, work 3 jobs outside the home mom,or  suburbia mom. You are all the same to me. You are all super Moms.

Yep, you heard me right. I said all moms are super heroes in my eyes. If you have carried a child within your womb you are a MOM.  Even if you miscarried or the baby was still-born. You are a MOM. If you gave the baby up for adoption you are a MOM. And if you are a MOM you are a SUPER MOM!

So where am I going with this… Well my point is this. Just because I am a stay at home mom doesn’t mean that I am not doing everything possible to support my family. It doesn’t mean I care any less for my babies than the MOM who goes out everyday and works three jobs to feed her 10 kids. And just because a mom is willing to be single and raise 10 kids while she works 3 jobs doesn’t mean she is a better mom than the suburbia mom or any other mom. We are all doing our part raising our kids. We are all supporting our families.

We are all in this together and there is no need to try to show each other up. For crying out loud! Just because i chose to stay at home and fold underwear and wash dishes instead of going out and hustling doesn’t mean I don’t care about my kids future. And I really could care less that you have to do all that whilst you work 3 jobs and your husband left you high and dry… Get over it! You are a mom, I am a Mom.. We are the same, you are not better than me. I am not better than you. We both love our kids and would do whatever it takes for them. Bottom line!

Now there is your cup of tea, go enjoy it while I have mine the way I like it!

30 DAY CHALLENGE… DAY 1

OK so over the week-end I signed up for a 30 day routine challenge. The object is to get on track with my daily routines over the next 30 days. We had to come up with 3 items for each of our routines and email them to the challenge admin Ray. Over the next 30 days we are expected to not only keep up with our routines but also email her each night with our TADA list (list of things we completed above and beyond our routines) and our Journal entry (detailed listing of everything we do throughout the day from picking our nose to picking out clothes LOL). she has set up a point system with a total possible over the 30 days of 990  and at the end of the 30 days the  person with the most point will win a prize (gift card or handmade basket).

So today was Day #1 how did I do?

Well so far I have completed 7/9 of my routines (one being this blog and the other going to bed)I have compiled my TADA list and Journal entry. all that is left is submitting the email and logging off for the night. so what did I think.. Well it was a little nerve-racking having to keep track of every little task I completed throughout the day but at the same time it was a huge eye opener(you don’t wanna know how much time I spent on Facebook LOL). So will I continue with the challenge? Of course and not because of the prizes either. i signed up for this challenge because I know without a doubt that unless I get myself on track and keep up with my routines the rest of my family isn’t going to either and routines make things with special needs kids so much easier!
